The Kashmir Manuscript Preservation Project seeks to preserve and promulgate the literary heritage of Kashmir Shaivism. It consists of two phases.

The TMAP Mission – Phase I

In 2012, Christopher founded the Tantric Manuscript Acquisition Project (TMAP) in order to fund a trip to Kashmir to pay for the purchase of a vast number of digital scans of precious Tantrik works Srinagar.

We returned late that Spring from Srinagar, Kashmir with 12,500+ pages of scanned manuscripts of endangered texts belonging to the Tantric traditions of this region. Samples of these can be viewed here on my ‘Shaiva Manuscripts’ Wordpress site (currently under renovation), as well as on archive.org.

The TANTRIC LITERARY HERITAGE OF KASHMIR Project – Phase II

In Phase I of our successful 'Tantric Manuscript Acquisition Project' (TMAP, 2012), we recovered 500+ Sanskrit (Shāradā) manuscripts.

Thanks to the Egangotri Project, we now have over 10x that number of manuscripts (5,000+), including tens of thousands of rare (and often endangered manuscript folios), painstakingly photographed from collections in Jammu, Srinagar Valley, and throughout the South Asian continent.

This collection currently fills a hard drive space of Eight Terabytes.

Phase II begins in 2023.
